The Gifted and Talented Education Guidelines and Procedures state that all students who participate in the Gifted and Talented Program will have their progress reviewed annually. Grades will be reviewed at the end of the second marking period. A letter will be sent home to all students who are not meeting the criteria to continue participating in the Gifted and Talented Program. At the end of the third marking period, a review of grades will again take place. After the review, the Gifted and Talented Committee will meet and make recommendations for placement for the following school year. Should the Gifted Education Committee need to convene to discuss a student, the student's parents will be invited to attend the meeting.
Acceleration At the end of the year, students participating in the Acceleration Program must have at least a B average (not a B-) in their accelerated subject in order to continue accelerating in that subject.
Pullout Enrichment Students participating in the Pullout Enrichment Program in grades 1-3 must be making satisfactory progress in all subjects, and students in grades 4 and above must maintain at least a B (not a B-) average in all subjects. All students in the Pullout Enrichment Program must also receive favorable assessments from the Gifted and Talented Teacher to continue in the Pullout Enrichment Program.
